Washed-Out Gravel Road Restoration in Tennessee

Gravel roads take a beating over time - especially here in Tennessee where heavy rain is just part of life. What starts as a few soft spots turns into ruts, washouts, and material that ends up sitting in the ditch instead of on the road where it belongs.

That's exactly what we were dealing with here. An older gravel road that had lost material over the years, leaving the surface uneven and rough to drive on. This is one of the most common calls we get, and honestly, it's one of the most satisfying problems to fix.

We ran the blade down the full length of the road, pulling material back up from the edges and regrading the surface to restore proper crown. Crown is the subtle arc built into the center of a road that sheds water to the sides instead of letting it sit and saturate the base. When that crown disappears, washouts follow. Getting it back is the difference between a road that holds up and one that just keeps falling apart season after season.

A lot of people assume a road this far gone needs to be completely rebuilt from scratch. That's not always the case. With the right grading work, worn-out roads can be brought back to a solid, drivable surface without the cost of starting over.
