Here's what we were working with - a rough, overgrown lot edge loaded with scrubby growth, loose dirt piled against a concrete pad, and zero usable grade. Not exactly what the next crew wants to walk into.

The goal with any site prep job is pretty straightforward: clear what's in the way, shape the ground so water moves where it should, and leave a base that's solid enough to build on. That sounds simple, but getting it right takes more than just running a machine over the lot.

We worked through the land clearing first, pulling out the brush and scrub growth that had taken over. From there it was all about the grade - reshaping the slope, managing drainage, and compacting the base. The rock apron along the edge is there for a reason. It keeps material from washing out and protects the grade we worked to establish.

The difference between a pad done right and one that just looks done shows up later - when the foundation crew, framers, or flatwork guys show up and can actually get to work without fixing someone else's mess first. That's what we're aiming for every time.

A good site prep job sets up everything that comes after it. Land clearing, grading, drainage, compaction - it all works together. When one piece is off, the whole build feels it.
